This totally isnt a completely lazy way to do an update, by adding a quick comment to get the year "2021" onto the website

Minecraft Java 1.16 debuts 6/23, and Taphouse is...kinda ready?

As savvy crafters may already know, Minecraft Java 1.16 "The Nether Update" will make its international debut Tuesday the 23rd of June, 2020.  And wow, what a huge bunch of new game content that promises to be!

Your humble admin has been chunk editing various parts of the Nether on Taphouse Minecraft to try and get some area freed up for new biome generation, and I hope I've gotten enough cleared for everyone to enjoy getting confused all over again about where the nether portals are.

I have also cleaned up some Overworld and End areas, trying to take care to avoid obvious player structures and whatnot.  Alas, the editor only shows the areas in question at surface level, so if you had an underground stash in some far off location and it turns up missing, get in touch with me, and I'll reload that area from the backups.

Got that free little handout from Microsoft for Windows 10, but can't bear to hit up a ConSpiracy Bedrock server?  We got you, fam.  Head to hotep.taphouse.org with that thing and get yourself on "BoB"edrock!  Already a little infrastructure there, so you won't have to beat rocks together the first day.  Have fun!

Minecraft 1.12 and NETHER Map!

Hey, folks, Hotep proprietor Nigel here:

Minecraft has updated to 1.12 and we've gone CRAZY!  Crazy with mapping, that is.  Scalopd has just traveled farther than any of us in search of a woodland mansion, and that means we have a lot more map to explore in search of parrots and whatnot.

But ALSO, the Minecraft Map is accessible from the web-page again, AND we have added nighttime overworld views, and also the Nether!  Come stake your claim on Taphouse Minecraft, before all the great spots are taken!  Tour the giant Dobbshead!  Marvel at the creeper blast craters!  Farm for beetroot!  Its all here, and more.  See you on the inside.

Zeppo booted off twitter...temporarily

On June 11 twitter retired v1 of it's API. You can read all about it HERE. Unfortunately, this has kicked Zeppo to the curb as he was still using v1 via XML. XML is no longer in use on twitter. (RSS and ATOM are dead now as well) JSON is the only applicable format you can use, and every app MUST use SSL (https) THERFORE until the whole script gets rewritten to use the new 1.1 API he will be off twitter. He is still on IRC for your amusement, but I dont expect him to be back on teh twitters before XDAY.

He is back from the gave and his upgrades are complete...w00t

Zeppo Update

He is alive and well, just not on twitter. His old box could not be salvaged, the CPU (amd64 socket 754) is dead and even though I have two motherboards for it, (one unopened and unused) there isnt a point since the CPU is gone. The ram is fried too, but it has a lifetime warranty- just no need to replace it if I cant run it anywhere. I have been looking for a 754 chip, but haven't found one worth bothering with. (lots of used "oh this chip runs great" deals, that I dont trust)

I think since I have a brand new power supply (BOY DID THAT OLD ONE DO A NUMBER ON POOR ZEPPO) and a nice case, I will just get a combo deal like this:

Just waiting to get the $$$ together... Anyway he is running fine on a linux virtual machine on my windows8 box, but for some reason the twitter script crashes the whole thing. So until I get a new brainspace for him to live in, you will only be able to interact with him "in person" in IRC. Also someone mentioned donating and old box, but we'll see what happens there.

Taphouse Back at FULL POWER

Well we seem to have survived the worst of what Irene had to offer and all servers and services have returned from powerless hell. Sorry for any inconvenience.

Taphouse Outages

It is almost inevitable that the Taphouse Virginia servers (Frop and Hotep) will experience a power outage today that may last for several days. I have re-adjusted the round robin connection (irc.taphouse.org) to connect ONLY to the German (Bort) and Oregon (Sockem) servers until further notice. If you connect directly to either Frop or Hotep you should change over to the round robin to connect. Frop and Hotep are currently still online and can be used until they disconnect. The Taphouse website will also be offline during the power outage and a few services bots (and Zeppo) will be offline as well. Sorry for the inconvenience and we will see you when we return.

No, we're not all going to disappear just because Portal 2 came out

Its true, we're a bunch of gamer geeks, but we still have a social life, even if it spends a little too much time online. Anyhow, just popping in to remind you we have a blog, and there are no major server issues you need worry about. Call us after the cake.
